UPCOMING YOGA WORKSHOP!

"Give light and people will find the way."

- Ella Baker

Affordable
Therapy in California

“Alumbre” means “to illuminate,” reflecting the way clarity can come not just through external insight but also through remembering and new understanding.

Here at Alumbre Therapy, we know it can be challenging to find a mental health therapist in the sprawl of the healthcare system, especially someone who helps you feel safe and accepted. If you're looking for telehealth or in-person therapy sessions in Orange County, California, we’re ready to work with you in creating a care plan that puts your financial situation, core needs, and therapy goals at the forefront.

We believe in making therapy truly accessible for everyone.

Gina Villarraga

Founder, Alumbre Therapy

LCSW #27001, EMDR Certified Therapist

I was born in Bogotá, Colombia, and arrived in the United States at the age of two. As an immigrant, my story deeply impacts the work I do as a therapist, and I strive to offer therapy with a foundation of self-compassion, sensitivity and deep respect for each person’s pace to walking their path.

I am a trauma-informed therapist with over 25 years of experience walking alongside individuals, families, and communities. As the founder of Alumbre Therapy, I integrate EMDR, mindfulness and culturally-rooted practices with clients and as a teaching center working with clinical associates. I have always advocated for systematic change as being a person that felt unseen and underrepresented in the systems of power. I have found my own therapy to be helpful but my love of nature, music, movement, and family have been therapeutic in my own journey.

Our Commitments

Care That Meets
You Where You Are

Everyone deserves mental health care that feels accessible — emotionally, financially, and logistically. Whether in person or online, we offer care that honors your needs. Our practice includes sliding scale fees, flexible options, and support that meets you where you are.

You Don’t Have to Explain Belonging

Inclusivity isn’t just a policy, it’s a feeling. We hold space for people of all identities and walks of life with a simple rule: you don’t have to translate who you are to feel welcomed here. This is a place for all identities, expressions, and lived experiences. We strive to make room for every part of you.

Healing in
Cultural Context

We believe healing is relational and contextual. We honor the layers each person carries — ancestral, cultural, personal — and we approach each story with openness, curiosity, and respect. Cultural humility is a living commitment, not a checkbox. We come prepared to listen, learn (and even unlearn) every day.

Integrity is a
Practice of Love

We walk this path with honesty, boundaries, and respect. We believe ethical mental health care is care rooted in humanity, and that building trust means being real, not perfect. Integrity for us is a constant labor of love and understanding: we show up, we stay curious, we repair, and we keep it true.

The Whole You Is Welcome

At Alumbre Therapy, we tend to the full spectrum of your being — your thoughts, your body, your emotions, your spirit. True healing is a full-spectrum process. Whether your nervous system needs calming, your grief needs a witness, or your boundaries need strengthening, we honor all of you as worthy of care.

A Practice in Commitment

These principles are more to us than just static bullet points on a checklist. They are active guideposts that are honored in practice with every individual we meet. They serve as both compass and invitation to return again and again to what matters most — healing others from a place of trust.

Finding Ground

A TRAUMA-INFORMED YOGA EXPERIENCE FOR HEALING & SELF-DISCOVERY

This three hour workshop bridges the wisdom of yoga philosophy with trauma-informed mental health practices. Drawing on four of the eight limbs of Patanjali’s eight-fold path — the Yamas, Niyamas, Asana, and Pranayama — alongside somatic and mindfulness-based approaches, participants are gently guided toward greater self-awareness, emotional regulation tools, and inner acceptance.
